Bamboo Tablet Love

(lyrics are from Iron and Wine's "Passing Afternoon")

Years ago I was given a Bamboo tablet for my birthday. I used it a couple of times but never really got the hang of it so it got shoved in a drawer, bascially brand new, and then I moved several times and forgot about it. Recently my mom came across it and asked if I wanted it and I was super excited that it was still hanging around. I actually attempted to add handwriting to my blog a year or two ago with my scanner but it never looked right so I gave up. I've also seen a lot of bloggers using similar tablets espcially over the last year or so, and I just adore the look. Since everyone's handwriting is different and I love how it makes everything so unique and special to each person.

It's a little hard to get used to at first honestly. I don't know about newer Bamboo tablets but mine's pretty sensitive. I have to really relax my hand to get a good product or else my writing comes out really jagged looking. I love it though. You might have noticed I already started swapping out my banner and some sidebar things to use my own writing instead of the font I've used until now. I'm all for DIYing and adding a personal touch to things so I adore it!

Have you ever used a tablet from writing or drawing? What do you think?

Dress Restyle

I'm such a bad girl.

I totally had a list of to-do's and what did I end up doing all of yesterday afternoon? Saving a horrid dress from itself. Here's the before...

Lets go back a few days. It was love at first sight. the simple pattern and adorable color of this thing grabbed me and demanded my attention.

But oh, those sleeves. Not only are they puffy, but they also had shoulder pads because, well, you want to make sure your shoulders look HUGE right? I mean, giant shoulders are something that is totally sexy, right?

and, ugh, that neckline. Two words: not flattering.

Not to mention that fact that it ended at that super-akward sweet spot somewhere between your knees and ankles, so it looks like your a little kid and your mom made you wear something you obviously already grew out of because she's too lazy to shop.

Are you ready for the after? well too bad, here it is!

TA-DA! Can you tell I'm super proud of myself? And yes, I did strut around the apartment until my way-too nice husband told me that I did I good job:)

Anywho. I've learning quite a bit more about sewing since I did this restyle. It was fine as a beach cover-up, but  wanted this dress to be way cuter, and to actually want to wear it just as much as some of my favorite dresses.

I didn't take any process pictures, because I was afraid I might jinx myself and end up completely ruining it...

But I love it.

I wanted to make it a little "extra special" so I did this little weavy-design-thing on the back to give it a little extra somethin'-somethin'

What do you think??

Oh, and for anyone wondering, my boots and belt are vintage (thrifted), the bag is from Gap and I have absolutely no clue where these socks came from!

Living Space

Our whole living room/dining room/kitchen area is pretty much set as far as furniture and the what-not. We are still waiting for them to redo our cabinets, but it still feels so nice to come home to such a pretty little place in such a pretty little neighborhood. As is probably obvious, mostly everything is vintage (found at either thrift stores or auctions) except for things like our super pretty ikea couch which I had had my eye on for quite some time before it found its way into our living room. Oh and my gorgeous Kitchen Aid Mixer in Pistachio that my mother got me as a wedding gift:)

*sigh* I might have had too much fun with the furniture buying. Anyone need an interior designer? Will work for Starbucks and cupcakes!
